It’s cuffing season…

This luxe arm candy would make Diana Prince proud! Try wearing a pair of matching gold ones on each arm, Wonder Woman-style. (It should go without saying that this should be your main accessory statement so as not to overwhelm your look.)

Now all you need are an invisible plane and a lasso of truth!

Fringe cuff by BCBG, $118
Smooth Modern Armour cuff by ASOS, $26.70
Mirror studded cuff by Forever 21, $4.80
Jeweled cuff by J. Crew, $125
Matte black and gold triangle cuff by Blu Bijoux, $28

#TBT: Chick stole my look!

Don’t you just hate it when this happens?

Beat the odds of running into your “twin” by shopping early and always putting a personal spin on ensembles. I NEVER buy an outfit exactly as it appears on a mannequin, and I expand my search for special pieces and accessories outside the “usual” stores. And on the rare occasion that it does happen, grin and bear it gracefully. Don’t walk around pouting; that certainly won’t improve your overall look!

On another note, who else misses Dynasty? The fabulous wardrobes! The shade! The catfights! They just don’t make night-time dramas like this anymore. *sigh*

We’re obsessed with…

…this leopard foldover clutch by Clare Vivier. *Sigh*

We live for all things leopard…and this calf hair clutch is the perfect way to inject a little fierce kitty chic into your wardrobe. Animal print can be considered a “new neutral”, and you can carry this with virtually ANY color and still be on point.

If animal print is not your thing, Vivier’s clutches come in a ton of other finishes and are a luxe addition to your handbag collection.

Thinking Pink…

20131031-141756.jpg

Twenty years ago this past August, I lost one of my favorite people on the planet – my Aunt Helena – to breast cancer. I’ve been wearing an Estée Lauder Dream Pin this month in her memory. She loved makeup, and anything bedazzled (including denim).

To the end of her life, my aunt insisted on being in full hair and makeup before going out or receiving guests. Despite her illness, “dressing up” made it easier for her to “show up” and fight for her life.

She also loved the color pink, so I’ve been incorporating Origins’ Drink Up Hydrating lip balm in Pink Guava into my look this month. I love Origins’ products, but this one is especially dear to me because through December 31 Origins will donate $3.50 from every purchase of this shade to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, which Evelyn H. Lauder helped found.

Darlings, please be sure to take charge of your health through self-exams and regular check-ups. Early detection is key to fighting this disease! For more information, please visit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s website.

I love it when an outfit comes together! I decided to shop my closet for this year’s Magic City Classic festivities, and the Soiree presented the perfect opportunity to build a look around my vintage sequined pants, found at Etsy. Harem pants are having a moment this year, and when kept unfussy, are pretty fab! I paired mine with a simple cream peplum top from Forever 21, a gold snakeskin clutch from Target, rhinestone hoops from Private Gallery, bracelets from J. Crew and my favorite lucite and gold Manolo Blahniks.

Sleek, chic – and best of all – my legs stayed warm!

Magic City Classic do’s (and please don’ts)

Be sure to check out SCDD’s own Alexis Barton on AL.com talking (and modeling) fashion graciously provided by Belk for this weekend’s Magic City Classic face-off between Alabama A&M and Alabama State Universities! Click HERE to read the article! Alexis’ hair was styled by Kiera Grey-Nelson and James A. Adams at Renovare Salon in Vestavia Hills. And that awesome vampy lippie you see is the Guerlain goody I mentioned in THIS post.

Do you have a theme song? You know, something you play before you get ready to help you feel extra confident?

Here’s mine:

A fur coat? A Mercedes? Big hair? That’s my kind of party.
