Tory Burch plans September 2017 opening at The Summit


This is NOT a drill:

The Summit will add a Tory Burch located between MAC Cosmetics and Ann Taylor–and it is scheduled to open in September 2017 (according to TB’s hiring website)! The lifestyle brand, including clothing, home goods, shoes, accessories,  activewear, watches and fragrances, is known for its prints and eclectic details. It is based on CEO Tory Burch’s life and loves, and is heavily influenced by her chic parents.

Burch built her billion-dollar empire from the ground up, and she’s leaving a legacy for other women entrepreneurs through the Tory Burch Foundation. The organization , which empowers women and girls to “Embrace Ambition,” provides resources including networking, mentoring and access to funding.

What I love about the line is the fine craftsmanship and the signature touches that make her pieces so distinctive. Let’s not forget, she helped make fitness wearables chic by re-imagining them as jewelry! We see a lot of Miller sandals and Reva flats here and the smaller handbags and clutches are quite popular for game day, so I imagine the line at the stores grand opening will be quite long. In my experience, not only are the designs beautiful, the stores are as well (with each having their own custom flair, as you can see in the pictures above) — and the customer service is superb.

Bevello hosts grand opening this week!

  Love, love, love this chic boutique! It was one of my favorite stops in Tuscaloosa, and now bevello celebrates its grand opening at the Summit this Wednesday!

The grand opening party is this Wendesday, March 23 at 5:00 P.M. Guests will enjoy a DJ, photographer, complimentary drinks and light bites from Seasons 52 and Zoe’s Kitchen, plus 20% off purchases!

The new store is located at 214 Summit Boulevard, Suite 400.

Join me for Girls’ Night Out at Belk!

Darlings, shake off those winter blahs and spring forward into warm-weather fashion with Belk (and me!) on Thursday, March 12 at the Summit location! The garden party-themed soirée will feature light bites, wine and music from Scratch DJ, as well as fashion tips from yours truly. And yes: there will be discounts (20% off with limited exclusions) and giveaways!

The event is from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Belk (the Summit location). Swing by; I’d love to see (and shop) with you!

Check out a sneak peek at what I’m wearing: this lovely Ruffle-Top Slim Dress by 1 State’s Spring 2015 line (seen also in the slides how above). I was looking for an updated LBD and this is a winner! The flirty ruffle accent keeps it fun, but I don’t feel over-exposed thanks to the wide straps and knee-length hem. It can easily be dressed up or down, and I can’t wait to show you how I’ll style it this spring (hint: leopard may be involved). And 1 State has several other stylish, contemporary options on the second floor!

Not in the Birmingham area? Other Girls’ Night Out events are being held at Belk locations in Tuscaloosa, Spanish Fort and Mobile, AL (Bel-Air Mall), in Pensacola FL (Cordova Mall), and in Atlanta, GA (Phipps Plaza) and Franklin, TN (Cool Springs Galleria).

Meet designer Donald Pliner at Belk

Donald Pliner will appear at Belk at the Summit this Saturday, March 30 in the Ladies Shoe Department from 11 AM-4 PM!  During the appearance he will showcase (and sign!) pieces from his spring collection.  Billed as “chic, evocative and exotic,” Mr. Pliner’s line is known for luxe materials and fine details.  It’s almost sandal season and we’re currently obsessed with the Tiam, a fabulous crepe espadrille with a 4 1/2 inch wedge heel and braided detail!

MAC opens at Belk/The Summit!

Who’s been waiting on this besides me?! 

The MAC counter is in a prime location near the front of the store, and has double counters.  Becky Blair, Belk Western Division Merchandise Coordinator noted, “We’re looking forward to the new MAC counter for this location.”

The Summit and the Shops of Grand River to host fashion camps

Looking for fashionable and fun camp options this summer?  Then check out these upcoming camps at The Summit and the Shops of Grand River!

The Summit is hosting a day camp for girls ages 6-12; registration began in April and can be completed by visiting the Summit’s  Guest Services.  On select dates in June through August, little fashionistas will receive tips on “style, accessorizing, makeup, decorating and entertaining.”   The $65 per child fee includes lunch, a $25 Summit gift card, a gift and a graduation certificate.  Participating stores include Sephora, Barnes & Noble, Vera Bradley and Gymboree.  Campers will enjoy  a week “like fashion week in Paris, a Hollywood makeover and an elegant dinner party all rolled into one!”  For more information, call (205) 967-0111 or visit the summitonline.com

The Shops of  Grand River will host Fashion Camp with Tracy Robinson, to be held June 11 through August 3.  Attendees between the ages of 6 and 15 “will visit a host of The Outlet Shops of Grand River’s collection of favorite designer and brand name stores as they learn how to accessorize like a pro, identify prints and patterns, experiment with make-up the right way, the art of modeling, and much more.”  The $50 registration fee includes “a catered lunch, a goodie bag complete with a $25 gift card to The Outlet Shops of Grand River, the opportunity to model in the outlet center’s upcoming Back-to-School Fashion Show, plus a VIP invitation to the outlet center’s Back-to-School Bash.”  For  more information or to register, go to www.shopsofgrandriver.com.  Fashion campers may also register at Guest Services, in the Food Court.
