So you want to wear a wedding jumpsuit…

You’ve come to the right place.

Yes, I am still obsessed with the elegant ensemble Solange Knowles chose for her wedding to Alan Ferguson a few months ago. Amal Clooney didn’t do too badly either, with her choice of a sleek pantsuit groom. And I loved Olivia Palermo’s wedding shorts+overskirt…tres daring!  If you’re jumping the broom soon and going for a more traditional gown, perhaps you could incorporate the look into your engagement photo shoot, bridal luncheon or bachelorette bash or even your reception/farewell ensemble.

Here are  a few options:

Crepe cowl-neck halter jumpsuit, $650 at David’s Bridal

Lola jumpsuit, $300 at

Matilda jumpsuit, $800 at

Ivory Love Always romper, $185 at Trussville’s South Boutique.

Ivory Lace romper, $66 at Trussville’s South Boutique.

It’s crucial that you consider your undergarments when wearing this type of look. There should be no lumps, bumps or visible panty lines! And if the item you choose is not lined, you can either have one made at an alterations shop or you may “fake it” by wearing nude pantyhose underneath, depending on the fabric (snip the legs to an appropriate length).

It involves keeping your clothes on (ahem, Mrs. Kanye West) and Solange Knwoles did it in immaculate white ensembles this past weekend. The occasion? Her chic, modern wedding to love Alan Ferguson. The interweb collectively swooned.

The couple celebrated Saturday night with a showing of Mahogany (a classic film the couple watched on their first date…and we spy Solange carrying that adorable Kate Spade bag we posted!) at Indywood Cinemas, and were married at The lovely Marigny Opera house on Sunday. The pair pedaled to the ceremony on matching white vintage bikes, for which Ms. Knowles wore a Stéphane Rolland caped pantsuit. She changed into an Humberto Leon for Kenzo caped gown for the ceremony, and the theme seems to have been white haute for all, including her mother, Tina, and sister, Beyonce.

Photos were released via Sunday evening.

Fab. (And yes, I’m all about the drama of capes. See HERE and HERE.) This is such a refreshing personal statement that seems authentic to Solange’s overall style and aesthetic. Nothing about this wedding (from the pictures, at least) seems forced or hung up on traditional wedding style, which I think is great.  I’m especially loving Mama Tina’s ensemble; I hate it when mothers of the bride and groom get stuck in frumpy, matronly outfits. And I’m predicting a lot of “white haute” nuptials and caped brides come spring.

So Chic: Solange Knowles in Stephané Rolland

Singer-songwriter, dj and model Solange Knowles (who has also served as the face of beauty brands Carol’s Daughter and Rimmel London) shuts it down in this white Stephané Rolland Spring 2012 gown with peplum detail and gold accent.  Check out the minimalist, barely-there makeup…a breath of fresh air for Spring!  Her slicked back bun and minimal jewelry finish the polished, modern look.  And while I’m usually all about embellishments, the stark beauty of this dramatic white gown announces “less is (really) more.”  Take note ladies: this is what “not trying too hard” looks like.  Perfection!

Sister Act: Beyonce & Solange Knowles

Fashionable sisters Beyonce and Solange Knowles were recently named to Vogue Magazine’s 2011 Best Dressed List.  The duo, who just hit up New York Fashion Week’s Spring 2012 shows, are known for their edgy, distinctive style.  Solange, who is a dj, mommy to Julez and one of the faces of Carol’s Daughter, wows in her her Prabal Gurung for J. Crew ensemble.  And soon-to-be mommy and singer/actress/designer/fragrance creator Beyonce is a quick change artist in beige sequins, then a beige leather and tulle ruffled mini.  Flawless hair and makeup for both complete the looks.

In Case You Missed It…

…make sure you check out the New York Times Magazine’s Women’s Fall Fashion issue.  Esperanza Spalding graces the cover with her gorgeous afro, the piece Nightie Aphrodites features Solange, Les Nubians and Corinne Bailey Rae in a breathtaking spread and there is also a lovely profile featuring the very chic Erica Reid (wife of The X Factor‘s LA Reid).  Sigh.
