Shop Macy’s Backstage!

Macy’s Backstage is now open at the Riverchase Galleria and Brookwood Mall, and we love it! Here are a few things you should know:

  1. If you like the thrill of the hunt, you’ll love the new Macy’s Backstage! It combines the best parts of department store and outlet shopping to offer shoppers great items at a fantastic value, in an easy to shop/easy to find environment. The store is bright and inviting and so much thought has been put into creating a “store within a store.” (An extra thoughtful touch: Macy’s Backstage includes authentic, gently loved high-end items from Louis Vuitton at competitive prices.)
  2. Macy’s Backstage refreshes its merchandise offerings with speed and style thanks to its stellar cast of sales associates, also known as the Backstage Crew. Fashion, home, cosmetics, gifts, pet accessories, active wear and jewelry all have a starring role on the selling floor, and at great savings. Taking “Center Stage” on the red carpet will be a special dedicated space in the store where the latest trends, themes and styles get top billing to inspire the shopper.
  3. Keeping an eye out for great finds and spotting trends, the Macy’s Backstage team curates each store to the fashion styles of the community it serves. Savvy shoppers will have a second chance to buy the sweater, handbag, dress and shoes they missed from last year, as well as new merchandise from the most coveted, cutting-edge designers, all at 20 to 80% off comparable department store prices.
  4. Shoppers will be able to use their Macy’s credit card and earn Plenti points at Backstage locations to enhance the customer experience between Macy’s distinct department and outlet – but no coupons or promo codes are used.
  5.  Macy’s Backstage is open now, so get to shopping! And if you see something you like, buy it — it might not be there if you leave it and come back.

We’re sending one Same Chic Different Day reader to shop at Macy’s Backstage with a $100 gift card! To enter, simply comment “Send me Backstage!” on this post!

Iris Apfel stars in emojis+INC line for Macy’s

In today’s “fabulous at every age” news… we’re totally here for it. (Did you somehow miss our last post? #TeamIris)

Haute off the press release:

“I.N.C. International Concepts, exclusively at Macy’s, today reveals its Fall 2016 campaign, “Iris Meets I.N.C.,” and launches its corresponding emoji keyboard inspired by campaign star, Iris Apfel.

Designed by Snaps and with input from Apfel, the keyboard includes emojis, stickers, and GIFs featuring Apfel, her signature quotes, and items from the “Iris Meets I.N.C.” collection. The emojis also incorporate lifestyle categories, including beauty, food and beverage, and an assortment of birthday-themed graphics in celebration of Apfel’s upcoming 95th birthday on August 29.

“I’m a little old for emojis, and I didn’t know what they were,” said Apfel. “But everyone seems to like them, and I want everyone to have a good time. If my face makes people happy, I’m all for it.”

The creative advertising campaign, shot by Ben Watts, features Apfel, both on her own and alongside model Linda Vojtova, wearing five looks from the collection. As previously announced, INC teamed up with Apfel to develop a collection of approximately 40 “must-have” clothing and jewelry pieces that play into fall’s “mod” trend revival. Apfel consulted with I.N.C.’s design team and provided creative direction on the collection, which focuses on stylish and versatile wardrobe staples and a wide assortment of her signature bangles.

The emojis will appear throughout all elements of the campaign, including product hangtags, digital advertising and direct mail.

“This is Macy’s first foray into emojis, and Iris Apfel’s campaign for I.N.C. was the perfect occasion to try something we’ve never done before,” said Nancy Slavin, senior vice president of marketing for Macy’s Merchandising Group. “Iris has collaborated with other fashion brands in recent years, so we wanted to take a fresh approach. She’s an icon whose appeal spans multiple generations, and we see these emojis as a fun way to amplify the campaign through mobile first. Her fans are going to go crazy!”

Beginning August 3, the emojis are available for free download on iOS and Android through the Apple App and Google Play stores.

The “Iris Meets I.N.C.” collection will be available exclusively at Macy’s stores and on macys.com in early September 2016.”

ICYMI: Macy’s ‘Eras of Black Style’ Event

Last Saturday’s Eras of Black Style event at Macy’s/Riverchase Galleria was amazing! I had an awesome time from beginning to end!

It was such a treat being outfitted by celeb stylist Ryan Christopher and getting to talk style with Ebony Hall , co-anchor of ABC 33/40’s  Good Morning Alabama, Miss Black US Ambassador Jazmine Scroggins and Montgomery fashion designer and consultant Perry Varner!  I even got a little emotional when I was asked to share my journey as a fashion blogger.

It was such an honor to be asked to participate, and I enjoyed the Nathifa Dance Company’s spirited performance; enjoy the photos!

*What I wore: a Bar III colorblocked dress that I loved so much I took it home (check stores; not available online), Jessica Simpson ‘Cendini’ heels, a Vince Camuto chain link toggle bracelet and Jessica Simpson hoop earrings (similar, here).

Fab photos from the Macy’s Prom Event!

Macy’s offered prom shoppers the magic of a Macy’s prom experience last weekend at the Riverchase Galleria location, with a fashion show featuring their latest dresses, etiquette tips for the big night, cupcakes from Dreamcakes, and mini-makeovers courtesy of Clinique and Fashion Fair!  I had a blast hosting the event, with the help of party entertainer Danny Brewer of Danny Brewer Live.  If you’re looking for something long, short or in-between, on trend and at a great price, be sure to check out their m style lab on the first floor.  The shoes with each look were from the ladies’ shoe department on the second floor, with everything from a pop of color, sparkled, studded, or neutral featured – great for prom and beyond!

The team at Macy’s was lovely enough to let me model a look from their Social Department on the second floor; I wore a spring look with a fun floral print by Jessica Simpson (not available online) and nude patent Chinese Laundry peep-toes.  I stayed to shop a little after the show and took home the dress I wore, plus one more!

Looking for a super-cute way to ask someone to the prom? Make sure you see the “Prom?” cupcake Ms. Moon provided. All you have to do is hand one to your intended date – much more chic than tweeting or sending him or her a text!

Thank you, Macy’s!

The Look for Less: YSL Tribute Sandals

Haute mommy Christina Milian (The Voice’s social media correspondent) gives us a POP! Of color while out and about in LA in neon pink skinnies and towering heels.

Love the look of her YSL Tribute stilettos (available at Net-a-Porter) but not the $795 (plus tax and shipping charges, darlings!) pricetag?  Check out a similar pair: “Toleo” by Vince Camuto in snake-embossed beige and “Mojito”  mint green (a very hot color for Spring).  The 4″ heel, 1″ platform is available at Macy’s and Dillard’s online, for $98 (yes, plus tax and shipping.  Macys.com does not have the mint green pair).
