Scarf game proper.

Leopard is a new neutral, didn’t you get the memo? I’m wearing this one from J. Crew Factory today (alas, it’s sold out!). It’s kind of dreary so the fierce kitty print and persimmon trim are giving me a much-needed boost (and another layer of warmth!).

If you’re like me, you have far too much to do to be side-lined by a cold or the flu.  Being proactive is key to maintaining your health. As is often said, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!”  I get a flu shot every year (and have already received mine this year), but if you’re leery of vaccinations and/or prefer over-the counter remedies, here are a  few tips and products that can help.

  • Wash your hands, and keep them away from your eyes, nose and mouth! If you don’t have access to warm, soapy water, use an alcohol-based sanitizer. Purell is “America’s #1 Hand Sanitizer.”  It contains ethyl alcohol and kills 99.99% of germs within 15 seconds.  You can find it at grocery stores, pharmacies and your local big box store. I keep it in my purse, my car and on my kitchen counter.
  • Do things that boost your immunity naturally. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, and foods rich in protein.  If you feel your immunity getting low, try Rainbow Light Counter Attack, a 100% natural defense-strengthening supplement, which contains zinc, berberine, Vitamin C and soothing natural oils. It’s fast-acting and stimulant free, and contains no gluten, sugar, soy or nuts.  You can find it for about $13.99 for a 30-count bottle at rainbowlight.com.
  • Get plenty of rest! When you’re worn out, you’re more likely to get sick.  If your sleep cycle is off, try Take Shape for Life’s Melatonin ($28.95 for a 30-count bottle). Melatonin is a hormone that promotes healthy sleep and helps you wake up refreshed.
  • If you do wind up under the weather, Cold-EEZE® Plus Natural Immune Support QuickMelts can help shorten the duration of your cold and boost your immunity. The QuickMelts dissolve without water and contain zinc, as well as soothing Rose Hips and Echinacea. And if you’re feverish/contagious, please do yourself (and the rest of us) a favor: stay in if you can help it!

Runny noses and hacking coughs are not fabulous…take care of yourselves this cold and flu season, darlings!

Xoxo, Alexis
